This is about the best book ever.
I’ve done a few self-portraits in my time (see below) and I try to be honest, but it’s tough. I’m currently reading Kim Chernin’s 1983 book Womansize: The Tyranny of Slenderness, on the negative way women see their own bodies (sadly, nothing much has changed since the book was written). Maybe it’s a good time to review this piece on female cartoonists drawing the female form.
I’m seeing some light at the end of a work-related tunnel. Soon there will be drawing and more music. For the moment, revisiting this artist’s fantastic work combining office supplies and Gorey influences. (What’s not to like?)
A reading list? A viewing list? Rolling Stone’s 50 best non-superhero graphic novels. I’ve read more than a few already…
