Gazing downward

I’ve done a few self-portraits in my time (see below) and I try to be honest, but it’s tough. I’m currently reading Kim Chernin’s 1983 book Womansize: The Tyranny of Slenderness, on the negative way women see their own bodies (sadly, nothing much has changed since the book was written). Maybe it’s a good time to review this piece on female cartoonists drawing the female form.
